A genuine need
More and more students are facing financial difficulties that could jeopardise the smooth handling of their academic careers.
According to data from the InES collective (Inclusion, Equality, Solidarity), 9% of young people aged 18-24 currently benefit from student social integration income (RIS). This percentage, which has been continuously increasing over the last ten years, corresponds to about 19,200 students supported by CPAS.
On the other hand, the proportion of students who need to be employed to support themselves and their studies also continues to increase. In 2023, it amounted to 41.6%.
